ABOUT OUR AUTHORS

Helen Adams is a former school librarian and technology coordinator in Wisconsin and currently an online instructor for Mansfield University. She is co-author of Privacy in the 21st Century: Issues for Public, School, and Academic Libraries (Libraries Unlimited, 2005) and is the author of Ensuring Intellectual Freedom and Access to Information in the School Library, a book on intellectual freedom in the school library (Libraries Unlimited, 2008).

Carin Bringelson and Nick Glass, with TeachingBooks.net, an online collection of multimedia resources about children’s and young adult literature and the author/illustrators who create those books.

Carolyn S. Brodie, Ph.D. is a Professor at Kent State University, School of Library and Information Science, Kent, Ohio. She was a member of the fifteen-member 2007 Randolph Caldecott Selection Committee and was awarded the 2008 Scholastic Library Publishing Award.

Greg Byerly, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at the School of Library and Information Science, Kent State University, Kent, Ohio.

Kristin Fontichiaro is the library media specialist at Beverly School in the Birmingham (Michigan) Public Schools and author of the books Active Learning through Drama, Podcasting, and Puppetry (Libraries Unlimited, 2007) and Podcasting at School (Libraries Unlimited, 2008).

Pat Franklin is a library media specialist at Timber Creek High School in East Orlando, Florida, and is a National Board Certified Teacher in Library Media. She is the co-author of Library 101: A Handbook for the School Library Media Specialist (Libraries Unlimited, 2007).

Kathy Fredrick is the Director of Libraries and Instructional Technology for the Shaker Heights City Schools in Ohio. She has worked in school libraries at all grade levels in Ohio, Wisconsin, Australia, and Germany.

Meghan Harper, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Science at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. She has been an elementary, middle, and high school librarian and administrator in Ohio. She is the author of Reference Sources and Services for Youth (Neal Schuman Publishers, forthcoming).

Karla Krueger, Ed.D., is an Assistant Professor in School Library Studies at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. She has been an elementary and high school library media specialist.

Sharron L. McElmeel is the director of McBookwords, a literacy organization. She frequently writes and speaks about authors and illustrators and the integration of their work into every corner of the curriculum. Claire Gatrell Stephens is a National Board Certified Teacher in Library Media and has worked as a library media specialist first on the middle school level and most recently at Freedom High School in south Orlando, Florida. Karla H. Wendelin, Ph.D., is a retired elementary library media specialist from Lincoln Public Schools, Lincoln, Nebraska. She teaches courses in the library media program at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and children’s and young adult literature for Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.
